Hey all! I'm glad to announce that the last of my written papers for my "O" Level examinations are over, and therefore I'll have more time to update this space with loads of K-Pop happenings especially since I now have the time to watch Arirang and KBS shows to keep myself updated.

More about 2PM under the Cut!Collapse )

DSP Media recently revealed news about the new girl group that they would be releasing.

Pull up your pants and socks, put on a smiley face and bring out Spongebob's "Imaaaagination!", people! Cuz we're gonna welcome...

RAINBOW!

Oh wait, no that came out wrong.

RAINBOW!!

I can imagine a little rainbow appearing over the head of the host of, well, any music show like Music Bank etc. when he/she announces their group name.

I'm sorry. But I'm a bit.. Um.. overwhelmed...... uhhhhhhh.. by their group and even worse -- their groups debut album, Gossip Girl.

I can't wait for them to debut so I can actually hear a song and maybe a little dance of theirs and judge them for real.. for their "best vocal and dance skills" :

"After four long years of training, these girls have developed the best vocal and dance skills around," a DSP representative revealed. "They were affectionately called 'rainbow' in their training days, a nickname that has gained popularity. We chose this word as the group's name because each girl has a different charm. Furthermore, this name has more meaning because it was generated by fans."

I'm not sure how "four years of training" have allowed them to develop the best vocal and dance skills around. Rather skeptical of that cuz we all have to admit, who can beat the girls of everyone's beloved 2NE1, Wonder Girls and SNSD?

Anyway, I know many of you, especially SHINee fans, would have heard of Jonghyun having gotten teh one and teh only swine flu. But it is said that he's making fast recovery and don't worry all you fangirls, Jonghyun's gonna be fine and performin' with his loooovely swine flu *cough* voice real soon!

No, seriously. I love Jonghyun just as much as you do.

SM Entertainment recently released the much-anticipated MV of SHINee's new comeback song, Ring Ding Dong from their latest album 2009, Year of Us.

Jonghyun looks like he lost quite a bit of weight. Or maybe its just me who thinks that way. Everyone has to agree that leader Onew, who has always been linked with the "Onew sangtae" (or, "Onew Condition") dropped his old, teenage-boppy look for this new edgier one and I have to say, he looks much better now. Stronger even. How he looks would hopefully become how he acts/does things.

Lets hope he drops the Onew sangtae.. or not.

Go ahead, ring dinggi dingdinggi ding ding ding!

After their hit singles like Replay and Juliette, SHINee is undeniably one of the most successful Korean boy bands.

After a somewhat long (to the screaming fans of SHINee, of course) hiatus from the music scene, they're finally back with a new album, Year of Us! Cheer your hearts out, fangirls, for SHINee has dumped their teeny-bobsy looks for a newer, edgier look!

They're set to perform Ring Ding Dong on the 16th of October, so keep an eye out for the boys!

Check out their teaser for "Ring Ding Dong" here:

I'M HOOKED ONTO THIS SONG OF THEIRS ALREADY!

Year of 2009 has definitely been a bang with all the new boy bands and girl groups debuting and making comebacks. Now that SHINee has made theirs.. I shall wait for 2PM's!

Psssst...!
We shall all admit, Jonghyun is rather *ahem*.. hot.

What up what up! Its Gee-to-the-doubleyou-to-the-eee-to-the-ann!

Yeah.. the cheerleading thing isn't working out for me.

I'm sorry for the lack of posts recently all.

I am trying to keep myself updated by watching Arirang for Pops in Seoul and Showbiz Extra and even squeezing in everyone's favourite Star Golden Bell at 6:45PM, weekdays, and Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook during weekends on KBS World whenever I have the time, but I've been burying my head in books for the past week or so, just to catch up in time for my major "O" Level exams.

(Its something like SATS, minus 2 years of studies.)

I really am considering getting some people to take turns to post in place of me, but I'm not sure how many people are actually willing to do that, so... :(

On a side note, I am graduating officially from my Secondary School this coming Friday, exams will start on the 22nd of October and end exactly next month, 11th November!!! I'll be able to spam you all with posts then, no problem-o! ;)

During a recent Music Bank performance, HyunA was embarrassed by the clothes picked out for her.

I know that sometimes, the stylists at Korea are a tad bit weird because they can pick out random ugly clothing for the artists, VJs and so on and just allow them to appear on national/international television like that!

4Minute performed with a black-and-white get-up, and apparently the pretty (and need I say sexy?) HyunA got the shortest of the short. In the photo above you can even see her safety shorts which, from afar, resembles a pair of underwear. Poor HyunA! It was said that she kept tugging at her short dress repeatedly but it didn't work -- her safety shorts just kept showing.

Watch the performance here:

SNSD recently shot a CF (Commercial Film) for a bank.

Although I have no idea how this CF was related to ANYTHING banking, the girls were really pretty here and smart-looking in their tux. No idea who the boys are but apparently a good companion for the girls' voices.. hm.

Check out the original and see it for yourself:

2PM? Jaebeom? Where are yooooooooou??!

DBSK had it worse -- the whole group, as seen to the left of Big Bang, has been removed from the Dream Concert poster itself.

Even the website itself:

Insult, or not?

Fans shall decide whether to be outraged or just upset.

Hey all, really sorry about the lack of updates on the_kpopbeat Have been really busy of late with my studies in preparation for the O Levels and I'm in the midst of my Preliminary Examinations. :(

Apparently I know everyone has heard of the 2PM Jaebeom Controversy.

It was rumoured on Allkpop.com that Jaebeom wants to come back to Korea through an interview that was on the Korean sites, from a family friend of Jaebeom's.

However, JYP has recently released a statement:

Hi, this is JYP.

Since Jaebeom’s incident on Sept 5th, I’ve heard many opinions from people.
From scolding Jaebeom, and JYPE to giving Jaebeom a second chance, I’ve carefully listened to it all.

I talked to JYPE staffs, 2PM members, and Jaebeom about our future plans. First of all, although many people have sent their encouraging words to Jaebeom, he hasn’t changed his mind; thinking he made a huge mistake. He said that he is still very sorry and too ashamed to be on the stage. He also told me that since other 2PM members have worked so hard, they should not be affected by this in any negative ways. That’s why he left 2PM so quickly.
I think the same way as Jaebeom. The reason why I didn’t stop him from leaving is because I thought whether Jay being in 2PM or not now won’t be that big deal when you look at his life as a whole. Some think 4 years of his hard working has been destroyed, but his skills that were built up in 4 years are still remained in his body.
If Jaebeom receives a chance to grow up and become more mature by this incident, he will be able to fly even further later on. As criticism against Jay was way too harsh, requesting to revoke Jay’s resignation is asking for too much as well. It’s my role to respect his opinion wanting to have his time alone apart from the stage, and help him later when he says he wants to be on the stage again.
I think you should give him supports by then. Again, I apologize for not being able to manage and protect him well. We’ll try our best to not make this happen again

Thank you again,
2PM will continue their schedule with 6 members as it was planned
JYP

Summary: 2PM to continue with 6 members, no new members will be added, Park Jaebeom not returning to Korea.

At least, not for now.

All the best to Jaebeom and his future endeavours. 2PM Hottests support him all the way. Stop the boycotting, it's stupid!

It pains me to say this, but news has been that 2PM's leader Park Jaebeom has left Korea for Seattle on a flight today (SEPT 8th).

He has expressed his apologies over the recently surfaced Myspace comments about Korea and has mentioned that he would like to leave Korea as soon as possible, apologising to fans and his 2PM-mates that he has been a bad hyung and that he has not been strong enough to stay on in Korea due to such matters:

Translation:
"Hello, I'm 2PM's Jaebeom.

I'm sorry for giving you my last greeting through this letter.
I think it will be hard for me to see you all on stage because of my sorry heart.

I'm really sorry to everyone, and I'm even more sorry to the fans who have shown me love.
From today, I will leave 2PM.

2PM boys, I'm really sorry to the boys and I'm sorry I couldn't be strong as a leader and a hyung and have to leave like this.
However, I hope you will be more cool and charming.

Again, I'm sorry.

Jaebeom"

It was hard to hold back tears while listening to this song.

Jaebeom, Hottests everywhere hope you'll come back. We believe you will. We have faith in you, Leader.
